Five arcade racers that feel great on a touchscreen

Racing on a phone lives or dies on control feel. A game can look stunning, but if the steering fights you, it's dead on arrival. These are the arcade racers we've actually stuck with.

Neon Dash Circuit tops our list for pure speed and its brilliant boost-chaining. If you want tilt controls done right, this is the one to try first — the calibration is spot on.

We also rate games that keep the interface out of the way. Fewer on-screen buttons means fewer fumbles at eighty miles an hour. The best ones let you focus on the line, not the layout.

Our tip for any mobile racer: spend ten minutes in the settings before you judge it. Tweaking sensitivity and swapping between tilt and touch can completely change how a game handles. More than once we've nearly written off a racer that turned out great after a small tweak.
